t Gatsby, I'd like to know if "information" in the following excerpt from the last chapter of The Great Gatsby means "pieces of information" or "instructions:

Next morning I sent the butler to New York with a letter to Wolfshiem which asked for information and urged him to come out on the next train.

Nick asked him for information meaning he wanted information from him. I think Nick was looking for Gatsby's father.
