Nick points out an elusive quality to Daisy's voice. Gatsby notes that Daisy's voice is "full of money." Apparently Daisy knows what she wants and it's embedded into her voice. Both Nick and Gatsby come from rather average backgrounds so they know the tone of money when they hear it.

For Gatsby money is his only shot into Daisy's life.
