In what way Nick is more than a father for Gatsby's father?

Gatsby's father has had little contact with his son over the years and is now stuck in the position of comforting Mr. Gatz when his son is lost. Nick offers Mr. Gatz some belief that someone cared about Gatsby which is, in its way, a comfort for the old man.
