How has Gatsby's character evolved throughout the Great Gatsby up until Chapter 7? How does his character change in chapter 7?

I think Gatsby is a fairly static character. He pines for Daisy and is able to use Nick to connect with Daisy again. Gatsby is lost in his obsession with the idea of Daisy rather than Daisy herself. Despite plenty of opportunity to see what Daisy is really like, Gatsby continues to be lost in the illusion he has built up of Daisy. If anything, Gatsby becomes more desperate to achieve a dream that really never existed to begin with.
