By the end of chapter 5, Daisy is falling for Gatsby again. Daisy has, until this point, been non-committal with Gatsby. Now, alone with him, she witnesses his vast amount of wealth and impeccable style:

Suddenly, with a strained sound, Daisy bent her head into the shirts and began to cry stormily.

"They're such beautiful shirts," she sobbed, her voice muffled in the think folds. "It makes me sad because I've never seen such – such beautiful shirts before." ch 5
