This is a place that marks the antithesis of the world of East Egg. THe very name of "ash heap" provides the dichotomy between the grey lifeless reality of the working class and the colourful grand illusion of East Egg party life. Ironically the Ash heaps and East Egg blur the lines of societal values. There are rotten people on both sides.
