Gatsby's guests completely enjoy the hospitality he provides, all while gossiping about him. Some, have never seen him. People attend his parties to have a good time, to be seen, and to meet people. It's a free night out...... dinner, dancing, drinks, and entertainment. The doors were wide open..... so they walked through and took advantage of what he was offering.
