Chapter 7 Great Gatsby Question

Select a passage that uses some kind of symbolism. Identify the symbolism and commenting on the effect of the symbols on the overall meaning of the novel.

There is a lot of colour symbolism in this chapter. I like the following:

“High in a white palace the king’s daughter, the golden girl."

The "golden girl" is of course Daisy. Gatsby doesn't see the actual Daisy he sees an illusion, an illusion of perfection. The gold however also symbolizes greed and corruption. Certainly Daisy has a lot of that!
