The ‘Great Gatsby’ appears somewhat like a magician as the name carries with it a sense of showmanship and illusion. We learn a little more about Dan Cody, Gatsby and also Daisy in this chapter. Are their current personas just ‘Illusions’? Why?

All are connected with Gatsby's mystery past. Gatsby remains an enigma and his past is wrapped up in illusion. These people only half exist as bits of truth that are projected onto Gatsby's present life. This makes the story that much more speculating and interesting.
