Benjamin Franklin inspires Gatsby to achieve his American Dream. Franklin was a self-made man, a man who constantly improved himself. With less than three years of formal education, Franklin taught himself almost everything he knew. Gatsby emulated this. In Chapter 9 Mr. Wolfshiem pulls out a book where Gatsby thought he could plan every minute of his life to achieve his goals.
