Can my wife file for divorce if mentally ill?

My wife is a few weeks out.of the psych ward, court has denied her any access to our son. Is she legally capable of filing a divorce or can I just ignore it as she is not fit to file. Her lawyer has failed to recognize her mental illness and has just retracted his challenge to her having any custody till proven fit.
