The Great Dictator

The Nazis have two crosses or a double cross on their uniforms. Why do you think that Chaplin chose to use two crosses? What does it mean to double cross someone?

The double-cross on the uniforms and flag is a pun, or a joke with double-meanings. The badge resembles the swastika flag. A "double-cross" (with hyphen) is a deceitful act.

What a great film.... enjoy!
