The Grapes of Wrath

In the middle of Chapter 4, Casy describes himself as being like the turtle, always going "off somewhere". In what ways do the turtle and the preacher resemble themselves physically?

Both seem to have a a long and bony head covered in tight skin as well as a stringy neck. Both Casey and the turtle have protruding red eyes. Steinbeck also describes Casey's nose as being "beaked and hard".
