At the beginning of the story, Lucius is fascinated by witchcraft and otherworldly things. He dabbles in the magical arts, he is captured, tortured, and not only studies perversity.... he participates. In the end, Lucius repents of his actions, embraces the monastery, lives celibately, and praises God. He is redeemed and enters the priesthood.
