How and why does the twins attitide towards Sophie Mol seem to change?
When Sophie Mol visits the family, the festivities are extravagant but forced. The twins who resent Sophie for her Anglo-Indian heritage are told to be on their best behavior. Although the twins behave I don't think their attitude really changes. It is even suggested that they had a part in her tragic death later on.
