do amanda and laura change as the play develops? what do you think will happen to them after the play is over? what is the significance of lauras blowing out the candles at the end of the story?

The candles symbolize hopelessness. Laura's snuffs out the candles in the same way her hopes have been snuffed out. As the play develops we see changes in the women....... but whereas Amanda seems to have learned from the past and urges Laura to move on and seek a better life.... Laura just seems to ignore her and give up.
