The Glass Castle

Were you surprised to learn that, as adults, Jeannette and her siblings remained close to their parents? Why do you think this is?

Actually I was and I wasn't. I know that sounds strange. I was surprised because the parents so utterly failed their kids in every way. I can see how resentment, even hate would creep into their relationships. Still, Jeanette is a pretty loving and forgiving character. Even though her parents were pathetic in their roles, she looked for the good in them. She also felt a bond and perhaps a duty even after all had been said and done.
