How can New York City be compared to the Glass Castle?

Mobility is repeated once again in this section. However, instead of Rex determining when and where the family will move, Jeannette and Lori take control. They become the heads of the household and rescue their own siblings from undesirable conditions in Welch. The children must "escape" from under their parents and the stifling community of Welch. New York becomes a literal manifestation of the Glass Castle, a place where dreams can actually come true as opposed to their father's version that is an illusion.
