Jeanette, Brian and Lori all forge successful lives for themselves that appear to share little in common with the lives their parents ultimately choose. What, if anything, have they taken from their parents and their upbringing?

I'm thinking the main thing the walls might have taken from their parents is a cautionary tale on how not to parent their children. There was no sense of security or normality to their childhood. I think the Walls kids would never want this for their own families.
