How would you characterize or describe Rex and Rose Mary's marriage?

I believe there was a lot of love between Rex and Rosemary. Her mother was a strong woman, but I don't think their marriage would have survived Rex's alcoholism and inability to work had she not loved him immensely. They shared common values, believed in searching for their dreams, and most certainly seemed to agree on parenting skills.... as strange as it seemed at times.
