How does Jeannette start to turn on her mother? What might be some underlying reasoning for the anger she has towards Rose Mary?

One reason that Jeannette becomes angry with her mother is the fact that she withholds the news of her grandmother's death. Her mother is surprised by this and states that she didn't think Jeannette cared if her grandmother was alive or not.
