how does jeanette slove the problem of having no where to bath and no way to stay clean

Jeanette fills the kitchen tub by lugging in tap water from under the house. Thus, she brings the water from outside in. Unfortunately, in order to fit in the tub, she had to pull her knees up to her chest. Jeanette says she "put off bathing until I was feeling grumpy".
