Does Jeannette feel sorry for herself?

No, I don't think she does. There are few revelations in the novel that have ever led me to believe she felt sorry for herself. Even when she burns herself making hotdogs at the age of three, we don't see self-pity or complaints. Everything is relayed in a matter of fact way without any real emotion.
