In the first five chapters, release is treated as an honor and with great anticipation. Thus, from these particular chapter, we can infer that release is something wonderful.
I know that when someone gets released from the community they are killed.
Being released raises a few questions for me. I wonder why they would release an elderly as the elderly have already lived a full life. As the elderly live in the House of the Old, I wonder where they would go. There would be no point of being released and living a happy ever after life as they would die soon. Also, the book stated that newchildren with defects and such were to be released. This raises the question to where the newchildren would go and how they would survive. If not taken care of, the newchild would die. Furthermore, the idea of criminals being released seems as if the place they would go to afterward would not be as safe as the community they were currently living in. For the previous reasons stated, I believe that when people are "released", someone or something is going to kill them.
The book. We discussed this in class
