When the narrator talks about release of the elderly," what do you think is meant by the phrase? how do you feel about "releasing"old people? why would society choose to do away with the elderly people before they die naturally?

"Release" means killing them. killing the elderly to maintain a younger population is ethically problematic. This puts no worth in what elderly people have to offer or who they are. This society sees the elderly as weak and a drain on resources. An enlightened society treats their elderly with respect, no kill them.
