How does hearing his parents' point of view about love affect Jonas's opinion?

Jonas completely disagrees with his parents' views on love, and as a result, lies to them for the very first time. He doesn't understand how they can view the word "love" as meaningless. He also decides to stop taking his pills for the stirrings.
