Jonas always feels that something is wrong in his community. He feels that "sameness" stifles individuality. He feels differently and he continues to feel more and more estranged from what is "normal" in the community. Jonas begins to "feel" things for his friend Fiona, Jonas begins to see in color, and Jonas begins to question the status-quo.
