The Gay Science Metaphors and Similes

“Emissaries of God”

Nietzsche writes, “It is obvious of that these tragedians also work in the interest of the race, though they may believe that they work in the interest of God, and as emissaries of God. They also further the life of the species, in that they further the belief in life.” The 'tragedians' perform their perceived role of being intermediaries by underscoring the essence of human survival. God sponsors the endurance of all his creatures specifically the human beings.

“Morals Decay”

Nietzsche expounds, “it is when “morals decay” that those beings whom one calls tyrants first make their appearance; they are the forerunners of the individual, and as it were early matured firstlings…When the decay has reached its worst, and likewise the conflict of all sorts of tyrants, there always arise the Caesar, the final tyrant, who puts an end to the exhausted struggle for sovereignty." The allegorical decay alludes to the degeneration of morality which paves way for the thriving of tyranny. The deficiency of morals is damaging to the prospering of virtues and democracy.
