When Madeline dies, Usher decides to bury her temporarily in one of his house's large vaults. The narrator says that the atmosphere in the vault is so oppressive that?

1) they cannot leave Madeline there. 2) Roderick panics. 3) the torches almost go out. 4) they decide to place Madeline in her room.
