What is the house like on the inside?

The interior of the house, like the interior, was dark and foreboding. Long, narrow, pointed windows adorned with dark draperies, blackened oak floors, vaulted ceilings and rooms filled with neglected antiques greeted the narrator upon his arrival. The narrator makes special note of the fact that the atmosphere was sorrowful and gloomy in spite of the fact the house was filled with books and musical instruments.
