What happens to Madeline?

There are two different ways to look at what happened to Madeline. One.... she dies and supernaturally returns to life. Two, she is in a trance (she suffers from catalepsy), and she is buried alive. In the end, whether she has risen from the dead or has always been alive, she dies in the house with Roderick.
