The Fall of the House of Usher

What is Usher's poem "The Haunted Palace" about?

The poem is really an allegory to an ancient story about a King who feared evil forces were going to destroy him and his palace. Poe connects this paranoia with the character of Usher, "I mean to imply a mind haunted by phantoms — a disordered brain"
