Grannpa explains that when trading, the Indians would present the item they had to trade, and that is there was nothing they wanted in exchange.... they'd take the item back. This ritual caused the white men to use the phrase, "Indian giver". In reality, when an Indian presents a gift, they simply leave it be found.... giving gifts does not include ceremony.
