Mr. Keesin was Anne's math teacher, she describes him as an "old fogey", who didn't appreciate her incessant talking, and as a result, assigned her extra work. Anne completes her first essay, "A Chatterbox", which Keesing finds amusing, he doesn't, however, find it amusing that she conntinues to talk throughout his class. All in all, Anne is assigned three essays as punishments for her talkative nature, which she obviously cannot control. Her class gets a lot of laughs, and so does her teacher, who ceases the punishments and finally allows her to talk without reprimand. In the end, she describes Mr. Keesing as always joking.
