why do you think peter lack self confidence ?

I think that Peter's mother spoils him, and his father comes down on him too hard. There's no balance..... they both confuse and embarrass him. Thus, he's a very solitary young man, who hasn't yet found his way. Unfortunately, he'll never get the chance.
