Who in Anne's life died shortly before Anne began her diary and how did that affect Anne

I believe that was Anne's grandmother on her mother's side. "Oma" had been living with the Franks for the last year. She died of Cancer in 1942. Anne missed her very much and notes this in her diary on more than one occasion.
