Ann had a contentious relationship with her mother. Anne has accused her mother of being cold and tactless. Although Ann is a very strong person she is still an adolescent girl who, like many other girls, has issues with her mother. It is hence difficult to gauge exactly how cold and tactless her mother actually was. Still, living in such close proximity to each other would have intensified feelings of annoyance between mother and daughter.
