I think it would take a strong person to hide in the annexe crowded with all those people. Let's not forget that Anne was a teenaged girl who liked her space. Anne wasn't afraid to be herself. She asserted herself with both Mr. Dussel and her mother. Through her teenage angst, Anne's writing shows a strong sense of identity and vision.
