Overall the war puts the lives of the people in the annex in flux. They go on with their day to day lives but always there is the danger of being discovered. The war takes away their privacy and of course they get on each other's nerves living in such close quarters. The people in the annex follow the war's progress closely on the radio. Anne heard a broadcast from London of the Dutch underground Radio Oranje.
