Anne is aware that her status as a Jew makes her different. In light of the war, we know that the Nazi regime treated the Jews as sub-human. They imprisoned, tortured, and murdered the Jewish people. Anne's continued optimism, as seen in the quote above, alludes to her belief that mankind will one day overcome this and become united. In light of the horrific period she lived through, this optimism attests to Anne's belief in humanity and goodness.
