How do the families celebrate Chanuka and St. Nickolas Day during their first year in hiding?

They celebrate them almost on the same day. The small group exchanges presents and lights candles in order to keep the tradition of the festival. Because there's a candle shortage, they only let the candles burn for ten minutes.
