how did annie keep herself busy

Anne wrote in her diary, studied, played games, celebrated holidays with her family and other residents of the annex, daydreamed, studied shorthand, helped out with office work, and hung out with Peter. 

One thing I want to tell you about the title is her name is Anne not Annie.
