Explain the importance of Anne's various passions while living in the Annex

Through her various passions, Anne learns about herself as she examines what she is thinking through her "growing up" years.  She begins to try to understand what others are going through as they surround her; they are often the center of her discussion in her diary and give her ideas about which to write.
