In hindsight, who could blame Anne for these feelings? I'm sure there were moments of hope during which she never would have uttered these words, but what about those times when she and her family were without hope? In her place, could you have gone through the experiences she experienced? When she wrote this, her feelings came from fear, but she still believed that people were innately good, and she felt this way until the time they were captured.
