A few things here. Aunt Eva pays special attention to Hannah. She reminds Hannah of when she was a little child. Aunt Eva is Hannah's gentle connection with the past Hannah's family past and her Jewish past. When Hannah goes on her "trippy" nightmare into 1943, she actually becomes Aunt Eva's friend Chaya.
