What do you think the badchan meant when he uttered "Better the fox to guard the bens and the wolves to guard the sheep"?

What does "bens" mean?

..Sorry, yes I meant hens.

I think he means that a fox might eat some chickens but not all of them, where as a wolf would eat all of them. This metaphor extends to their situation.

This means that the fox and wolf are the prediters and the sheep and the hens are the prey. thet fox and wolf are represented as the nazis and the hens and sheep are the jews. the jews arent safe either way with the nazis
