Hannah's conflict with her ancestry and inability to relate to their struggles during the Holocaust. This conflict was resolved when she was transported back in time to relive their struggles.

Hannah's (Chaya's) struggle to remember her life before becoming Chaya.... to remember the things she'd learned and to discern what she should share.

Hannah's decision to sacrifice herself that Rivka (Aunt Eva) might live. In the end, she chooses to die with Shifre and Esther, so that her aunt would survive.
