How does Hannah/Chaya survive day after day in the camp

Hannah learns to follow the routine... to avoid standing near the Greeks, to make sure her work is efficient and timely, to watch what she says and how loudly she speaks, to stay as healthy as possible and move carefully. All of these things drew attention away from her rather than focusing attention upon her.... it was safest to be invisible.
