When Hannah first starts talking about her actual home, Rachel, one of the girls, tells Hannah that she will be her best friend. Hannah then goes onto say that she already has a best friend named Rosemary, which astonishes the girls because Chaya (Hannah) is allowed to have friends who are not Jewish. As Hannah shares more information about her life in New Rochelle, the girls are amazed to hear that she can go to school and even goes shopping on the Sabbath. The girls are confused because they have never heard of such a thing. The confusion is explained by the fact that Hannah is from the future... and because the things she describes are unheard of in the time in which she is currently living.
