In what ways is Tom's approach to religion similar to his approach to financial dealings

They are both corrupt and not genuine.

He does whatever he thinks necessary to accomplish the goal he has set. He wanted to be financially successful; because of his deal with the devil, he makes harsh financial deals which hurt everyone else, but enrich him. He feels that if he can "practice" a certain kind of "religion," he will be lifted up at the end of his life, but he has signed that life away and is way too late to change his fate.
